I found “Lisa’s Things” through Fashion Consolidated, the only group you will ever need to keep you up to speed with all things fashionable and the only things worth knowing about in Second Life. Bless your diamond hard self-absorbed materialistic fashionista heart, if you do not belong darling, join, or dwell in the outer darkness with the unfashionable forever.
So, let us talk about important things like panty hose. How many pair do you have darling? What?... None you say! But you have tons of thigh highs and stay ups? And you want that slinky, sleek-n-chic, polished and finished look?
You need help darling and guess what, I am here for you. Thanks to Lisa and her top selling line of new panty hose at “Lisa’s Things” you have a selection of singles in five colors, a fat pack with all colors, seamed or no seam, in net or sheer with or without the panty in. Yes, that is the whole secret. It is the underwear layer. You can actually wear these under your skirt. These are fabulous. I love the sheer. They add that final polish to your carefully crafted, styled look. Remember, the guys are zooming you upskirt when you stand and when you sit. Leave something to the imagination and make them sweat. Lisa Petrov has done us all a favor and added mystery (sorry guys) plus a sleek-n-chic look with the latest addition to her extraordinary collection of fine clothing with pantyhose in five fabulous colors, seamed or no seam, in net or sheer with or without the panty in. I love them and you will to. I promise. Another truly remarkable release from “Lisa’s Things” available at both stores as of now.

The shopping experience at “Lisa’s Things” is shopper friendly. Lisa is there almost all the time and loves to chat and help in any way she can. She is the epitome of good taste and style. The new spring dresses are upstairs and I am totally enamored with her makeup table set. It has a hair brushing animation, cute little make up containers and all sorts of girly girl essentials. It will add a perfect touch to your boudoir. Don’t miss the freebie table, there is a beautiful sweater in one of the boxes. My guilty pleasure? I love rideing the escalator.

Interview:Leah McCullough, HRI March Model of the Month

Leah was selected as the original model of the month for a magazine that I wrote for when I transitioned to this fashion blog. She is a hard working and fun loving Latina girl and easy to work with in the studio. We had a great time. So join me now as I chat with Leah about a little bit of everything.

Helke: I am thrilled to have the honor of meeting you today. Welcome to Helke’s Reviews and Interviews at http://helkeduettmann.blogspot.com
Leah: Thank for this opportunity.
Helke: Tell me about some of your projects.
Leah: I am extremely interested in fashion and apart from modeling I am a designer... So with one of my best friends we are about to open a store... We are excited about it! I think it would be a great addition to the SL fashion world

Helke: Tell me about yourself.
Leah: I have been in SL since November, and since the very first day, I fell in love with the SL fashion world.... Clothes, hair, shoes. There are a lot of awesome designers out there. Sometimes I wish I could buy the whole store!
Helke: Where do you see yourself 6 months from now in second life?
Leah: One of my goals is to become a professional model. In addition, of course, having a solid business with Naive, our clothes brand.
Helke : What are some of your long-term goals? Leah: Continue learning and growing as a designer and as a model... and to become part of the great brands out there...and of course, enjoying SL and meeting great people like yourself!
Helke: Thank you. Moreover, may I add, you are looking very lovely today.
Leah: Thank you.
Helke: What motivates you?
Leah: I think that, when you finish a project, and you do a great job, there is that feeling of completion that really makes you continue creating and showing the world, what you can do... I love fashion, and being a living part of it. I can't believe how many great friends I've made!
Helke: What would you change,if you could?

Leah: It would be to have more money to buy more great clothes and shoes and hair... isn't that what all girls want?
Helke: I am almost sure of it. Any significant "other” in your life at present?
Leah : Not in SL *giggles*
Helke: For such a pretty girl, there must be someone?
Leah : You are so sweet... but really, there is no one.
Helke: What do you think it takes to be a successful model in SL?
Leah: Well, first hard work... you need to be outstanding in what you do and have a real passion for your business. Second, I think that a bit of luck always helps!
Helke: How would a former colleague or co-worker describe you?
Leah McCullough: I think they would say I am a hard working person, honest and responsible and friendly.
Helke: Do you consider yourself a leader or a follower?

Leah: I think that it depends on the situation. Sometimes you need to be a leader... and sometimes a follower... However, if I had to choose, I prefer to be a leader. I like to organize, bring ideas, motivate people, etc.
Helke: What do you see in the stores here in SL that you find fabulous?
Leah: I think SL allows you to be whatever you want... wear what you feel like wearing, without the RL restrictions... and I see that in the stores... Designers are free to leave their imagination to fly and create the most amazing things you can imagine.
Helke: Which magazines do you read?
Leah: Actually I love reading blogs more that anything, and that's where I spend most of my time only when I can't be in-world.... but a SL magazine that I love is Style... I really like the articles and the quality of the magazine.
Helke: What do you read in RL? Leah McCullough: I am a Cosmo girl. In my country, we get the Latin American version of it. Every time I go to the States, I try to buy a few and bring them home.
Helke: Have you ever worked with a designer here in SL?
Leah: No not yet, that is one of the things on my "to do" list.
Helke: If you had a choice of all designers in Second Life, who would you prefer to work with?
Leah: I would like to work with Armidi. I love their style, fabulous!
Helke: Are there any special projects you would like to work on in design?
Leah: I would like to try designing skins... but to do it well... it takes a lot of experience and knowledge... so maybe in the future that would be a part of our store.
Helke: What are you wearing now?
Leah: Both the shirt and the jeans are from Armidi. And the heels are from Maitreya.
Helke: Your eyes are beautiful.

Leah: Oh! I love them too! They are from Nevermore Studios... They have the most amazing eyes collection!
Helke: Of all the creative activities available in Second Life, what attracted you to modeling and designing?
Leah: I love fashion... and in RL I'm a web designer, so it really was an easy choice... what better than to combine two things that I love. And to able to also be the model of great clothes... It is just a perfect combination!
Helke: Can you tell me some of the challenges you faced here? What was your noob experience like?
Leah: I remember that first that... I did not know what I was supposed to do... I changed my avatar.. So that it looked, quite good... and I wanted to go out and explore and I did not know how to do that. So that great mentor girl help me out and I finally could start exploring.. I was so happy! I filled my inventory with freebie items and found a quiet place and start trying them all on! It was a blast!
Helke: That does sound fun.
Leah: It was.... I learned what NOT to wear.
Helke: What music do you listen to?
Leah: Mostly pop/rock music... but my fav singer is Christina Aguilera... She has such an amazing voice..
Helke: Currently, what is the fashion style you like the most?
Leah: I like clothes that are glamorous but at the same time confortable.... but always looking good. I usually wear a pair of jeans and a top... boots or heels... something like that.
Helke: Any comments regarding the fashion industry in SL?

Leah: Just three words... I love it!
Helke: In closing, what would you like the SL world to know about you?
Leah: I would like them to know that I am a nice girl. That I would love to be part of the fashion world and I am really working hard to do that. They will probably hear about me soon!
Helke: It has really has been so wonderful to meet you Leah. You are sweet as well as lovely. I want to thank you for taking the time to meet with me and share.
Leah McCullough: It was my pleasure Helke. Thank you for this great opportunity. It was awesome!

Style Starts Here/Designer: Simone Stern/Embroidered Lace Brocade Corset Set in Pink and Red

I admit it. I do love a bargain and better then a “bargain”, I adore a “quality” bargain. Now that I have stated the obvious, fashionable design, quality product, and reasonable pricing are the rule rather then the exception at “Style Starts Here”. Simone Stern, designer and owner has recently moved to a huge new mega store. Now, I had never met Simone. I had heard of her, the dragon lady of design, and I WAS intimidated. This called for a background check so I did a search. Even her profile sounded tough. I thought, “How am I ever going to get a sample to review from this “tuff gurl”? Did I ever read her wrong. We talked and talked off and on for three days. I was captivated. Simone was smart, insightful, witty and interesting. Moreover, the bull s*** is off the table and you know exactly where you stand in five minutes. Simone dumped tons of her beautiful creations on me. In addition, I bought two more. I worked through the samples she gave me. Each one more fabulous then the other. Then I had to decide. What would it be? The luscious lacy babydoll? The sweet demur and oh so innocent camisole and panties? The daringly erotic, made for the stage, burlesque inspired ensemble? I would need a feathered headdress and boas for that. Hmm, decisions, decisions. After immense personal angst and incessant soul searching, I settled on the Embroidered Lace Brocade Corset Set in Pink and Red, each sold separately. The rich vibrancy of the texture and color was symphonic. Themed in delicious rose red in one example and anything but virginal pink in the other, this was getting down to the main attraction, fast. The rich brocade and embroidered corset is detailed in depth. The embroidery is heavy and lustrous lending a 3D quality to the piece. The fascinating sheer inserts and panels add a lightness and ethereal quality to the panties and corset itself and bonus, you get a beautiful set of deco beads to go with each color choice. Think pre-fema New Orleans, circa 1920 and hot humid semi tropical nights. The lush decadence of the “3rd”coast and then you have it. The Embroidered Lace Brocade Corset Set is all about fantasy and inspired design. What can I say; Simone Stern has done it again. Fashion, affordability and quality all in one fabulous package.

The shopping experience at Style Starts Here is straight forward. On landing, you will find a large floor plan of the megaplex near by and neatly sectioned off into departments. Just read the titles and click. It is that simple. You will be at your desired destination in less then a second. Product is easy to find. The floor space is open and unobstructed.
All the product vendors are on the walls and NOT stacked 100m above the floor ad infinitum or fading into the murk of Second Life. This store truly is a pleasure to shop. Clientele is steady through the day with out being claustrophobic or elbow-to-elbow. Style Starts Here is one of my favorite destinations in second life and will soon be one of yours.

Advertisers for March

Sexy in Pink/Sweetheart red and pink babydoll with matching bra and panties./Designed by Kirsten Corleone.

I am in total awe of Kirsten Corleone. She is one of the most prolific designers in second life. She has done up to sixty releases in one month of quality apparel. In addition to being wickedly delightful, she knows her fashion and the industry inside out. She started as a model and has become one of the most fast forward dynamic designers in Second Life. I personally own several of her creations and I wear them. Kirsten does it all, formals, cocktail dress’s, casual and lingerie. She is a one-woman designing dynamo. When she puts on an event for new releases, she is all over the shop floor meeting and greeting. Passing out compliments and pointing out product to customers. Hers is a hands on in the trenches style and it has paid off. Her fans are loyal repeat customers.
I happened on Kirsten when she was working on some lingerie sets so my timing was perfect. Knowing Kirsten as I do, I knew dramatics would get me nowhere so I politely requested a sample to review.
“Of course Helke Dear.” She said, “Just keep reminding me, mmm?” Well, she shouldn’t have said that. I harassed and harried the poor chickie for two weeks. I got my sample, not just one but two and they was called, aptly enough ,“Sweetheart Red” and “Sweetheart Pink”. Gorgeously textured and colored, the two outfits came with a corresponding babydoll each. The panties and bra where saturated in deep layers of beautiful black lace. You know what I mean, the heavy substantial kind with weight and a bit of stiffness to it, the EXPENSIVE kind. The panty is a true string bikini and I will warn you, oh so naughty. I’m positive our model “blushed”. The “string” part of the bikini is exactly that, a barely there, wispy bit of connectivity between the fabulous and delicately textured front and back panels. The bra is the same deep-layered lace over glossy supporting fabric, in this case, either hot pink or bright red. The back bra band is night sky black and “stretchy” to enhance the molded silhouette appearance of the cups.
The spaghetti style bra straps are elegantly erotic and forever. I simply adore the babydoll. It is tantalizingly sheer and edged with the same luscious, satiny color of the bra and panty panels, falling charmingly from under the cups in a keyhole pattern exposing the midriff and the belly button to just slightly below the hips and the lower back from the bra band. Have “back” darling? The sweetheart ensemble will showcase it.
If your going to turn up the boudoir temperature darling, start a heat wave with Kirsten Corleone’s Sweetheart ensemble in either vivid red or scorching pink and watch the sparks fly!

The shopping experience at Sexy in Pink is legendary for the ever-changing inventory and the genuine one of a kind boutique environment. Heres Kirstens secret, she produces far more then she can show so she rotates product through the store. This gives a fresh look every time I visit, which is often and the front entryway display puts her very newest creations right up front. This allows her to stock her shelves as if she where a much larger store. Dedication and hard work from Kirsten equals a fresh and exciting look for her customers. Fabulous Darling, keep it up!

Allure Blue and Red at Foo Roo/Designed by: Lucy Roo

I just happened to be out and about doing my most favorite Second life pastime, exploring the stores, meeting the designers and their customers when I walked into Foo Roo and what to my wondering eye should appear? Walls of sumptuous, luscious lingerie. Yes darlings, walls. I was stopped stone cold in my beloved 500L classic black heels designed by Funk Shnook. I stood in open-mouthed slack-jawed awe, as if I had just been rolled over by a massive wave of freeze lag. I fumbled at the search field and found Lucy Roo, the designer at Foo Roo and we began to talk serious lingerie talk. Lucy was the sweetest, most gentle, agreeable and lovely person ever. She was happy to front me a sample to review. She even asked me to choose. I said “Lucy Darling, you choose, give me something that you love, something that means something to you”. She chose “Allure” in two colors, Allure Red and Allure Blue, each sold separately. Allure comes in three options in the box. The basic option is a beautiful, delicate embroidered bra and panty set. Then you can add a cute wispy and sheer camisole like attachment that goes from the bra band down to the just above the belly button that is very close fitting and exquisitely charming with tiny little dots applied to the fabric. The other option is a subtly sheer bra and panty with the same charmingly beautiful tiny appliqué dots on both pieces. This is not for the faint of heart darlings. Serious seduction is made of these things. Allure’s red and blue colors are quite frankly, eye candy, delicious and lickable. Once again, good fortune had not deserted me. I walked into a beautiful creation called “Allure” with both eyes wide open at Foo Roo and designed by the talented Lucy Roo.

The Foo Roo shopping experience is laid back and low key. No garish vendors or explicitly over the top ads. There is a comforting compatibility and relationship to art and product displayed in the store. Things are what they seem, unusual, but in this case true. Pricing is reasonable and wont send you rushing off to the nearest SLX terminal. Patronage is steady throughout the day and you will not find yourself being stepped on in the store or when you arrive. Foo Roo should be a necessary destination for any shopper of serious lingerie.

SF Design/Swaffette Firefly/Petite Coquine/Mar. 1 ‘08

Hello Darlings, so good to be back with you! I am very pleased to present a fabulous offering from SF design called PETITE COQUINE. One of the exciting things about this creation is that it is a Second Life version of a Real Life product. Yes Darlings, you can purchase this product in RL. It comes in two eye candy colors, each sold separately. They are satiny pink and lavender. Bra cups are in two styles, semi sheer and opaque. Both sheer and opaque are sold together in the same pack. The fit is marvelous, and the charming little tutu style skirt in stiff lace is adorable in sinfully wicked sheer black lace. The cups are full coverage and quite well rounded, sure to produce that lovely firm hemispherical look we all desire. Sheer stockings with the same gorgeous lace pattern at the tops and garters in exquisitely fetchinging lovely black lace, are included. The colors and textures are to die for; so delightfully lacy, satiny and glossy. Our model could not wait to try it on and when she did, she was ecstatic.
She kept saying over and over, as she was prancing around the studio, “Omg, omg, this would be perfect for Bob Guccione and Penthouse! That being said, style your hair as full and luxuriant as you can, drop a Sinatra CD of the Columbia years into your player, mix up a dry martini, slip into a pair of classic evening heels in black patent or gloss pink and you are on your way to becoming the sexy, desirable and irresistible centerfold material that dreams are made of. You are the star darling that you were meant to be in Petite Coquine another enchanting creation from SF Designs and Swaffette Firefly.

SF Design has several main stores and is a heavy hitter in Second Life retail and wholesale. The store I visited was well stocked and up to date with quality product.
The shopping experience is straight forward and to the point. No confusion here. Read the signs and follow the arrows. Everything is where it is supposed to be and easy to find.
It is a user-friendly shopping environment with maximum use of available space. Stairs are spaced along one wall for easy access to top floor. Product is divided into two main categories, women’s and men’s, with the appropriate sub categories. I highly recommend the men’s section to my guy friends. They will find a surfeit of quality products in a “lets get ‘er done” shopping environment.
